Exchanging IT Knowledge: VLCM Series

Posted by Jared Quan on Mar 26, 2015 4:00:00 PM

This is the fourth and final post in the series covering the fantastic VLCM IT Exchange. You can find the previous blog articles through the links provided here: VMware-Barracuda-HP, WesternDigital-LANDESK-Shoretel, Seagate-Storagecraft-VeloCloud. This last article covers the presentations that happened in Salon J and the Cottonwood Room of the downtown Marriott in Salt Lake City. This time VLCM had two of its veteran sales staff, Trent Eckman & Nathan Jones, covering the presentations. The partners & VLCM customers that presented in those rooms were – David Clark of Kirton McConkie, Rusty Jensen with inContact & Carrier Sales, Ashley Dreier from Heath Equity, and Beau Sorenson of First Choice Home Health.

Kirton McConkie – David Clark

“How to Get Management Buy in For Your Security Initiatives”

David Clark has served as CIO for the largest Utah based law firm with 130 attorneys, Kirton McConkie, for the past 3 years. He started off by talking about the three things that keep IT directors up at night, the 180 pounds of carbon between the chair and the computer, who is knocking at your doors and windows, and what are you users doing at home that you have no idea about. The scariest part is not what you know, but what you don’t know. High level very public data breaches at renowned establishments like JP Morgan, Home Depot, and Sony to name a few, have brought to light troubling details about the security of companies. With information like the developer for Norton Antivirus revealed, that their product works less than 45% of the time, and that more than a third of attacks target small business, security has become center stage for most companies.

The key is to understanding the data you are storing and then preparing yourself. By using executive friendly inexpensive tools like planning, added polices, training, etc. you can lay the foundation for presenting the decision makers with a hardware/software plan to strengthen your environment. inContact

inContact & Carrier Sales - Rusty Jensen

“The Cloud is Everywhere, What Does that Mean for you and your Customers? Learn how inContact Can Help.

Rusty Jensen represented inContact & Carrier sales at VLCM IT Exchange, Rusty brings with him five years of experience with inContact. He started off by talking about gaining a competitive advantage through customer experience. Customers have more choice and more voice than ever before, causing companies to look for an advantage. Companies found themselves looking to utilize call centers and negotiate their budgets. With typical companies spending 80% on labor, and leaving little for management and other IT expense, companies struggle to figure out how to get control over costs, while maintaining efficiency.

With so much invested in the budget on the labor side of a contact center, inContact shows that by saving just 3 seconds an agent per call, per month, can save the company at least $3k per month. inContact offers a solution to companies looking for high customer satisfaction and maximum revenue. For more details about these excellent offerings, please take the time to review the full presentation through the link listed below, and if you have any questions we will be more than happy to answer them for you.

Ashley Dreier has spent the last couple of years as the CTO of HealthEquity and had prepared to present at VLCM IT Exchange. However due to unforeseen circumstances she was unable to present her information at the event. Thankfully we have the ability to offer the slide deck she had prepared to present. We highly recommend reviewing the information provided on the slides.  We are also excited to announce that Ashley will join us for our next big event, VLCM IT Connection on May 1st to present this topic during one of our breakout sessions. First Choice Home Health – Beau Sorensen

“How to Master Emotional Intelligence and Supercharge Your Career”

With over 15 Years of experience in IT and the home health care industry Beau Sorensen from First Choice Home Health presented on mastering emotional intelligence. He started off with a quote from Charles Bukowski “It’s not the big things that send us to the madhouse, not the loss of a love, but the shoelace that breaks when there’s no time left.” It is important to know those who work around you and know yourself. This can be achieved by rating yourself. Then you can begin to understand that customers want two things, to solve their problem, and leave them feeling great about the experience. As Maya Angelou once said, “They may not remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”

The number one reason customers quit or leave, is perception of poor service. Customers want and need to connect to your human side before your technical side. The keys to winning with your coworkers and customers is your attitude, and skills. For more details about this presentation, please take the time to review the full presentation through the link listed below, and if you have any questions we will be more than happy to answer them for you. If you still aren't quite sure about emotional intelligence, check out this great article on why mastering emotional intelligence will make you a better IT leader.

This was one of our most popular sessions at VLCM IT Exchange and we are excited to announce that Beau will also be available at VLCM IT Connection to present this topic, if you weren't able to catch his session at IT Exchange - you have another chance on May 1st!
